Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 May 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Cernira, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
Cernira is a platform connecting AI labs (the “buyers”) with verified domain experts (the “annotators”) for the production of evaluation data, preference rankings, expert demonstrations, and labeled datasets used to improve AI models.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to contract. Annotators must hold the credentials they claim (e.g., active medical student, RPPS-registered physician, certified specialist). False claims may result in immediate account termination and forfeiture of unpaid earnings.
4. Annotator obligations
- Produce work to the quality standard set by each project’s rubric.
- Respect strict confidentiality of all task content. Do not copy, redistribute, or use task content for any purpose other than completing the task.
- Do not use AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to produce annotations unless explicitly permitted by the project rubric.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest with the buying AI lab.
5. Payment
Annotators are paid via “portage salarial” arrangements or invoice (depending on country and individual setup). Rates are defined per project and shown before you accept any task. Cernira withholds platform fees from gross compensation. Payments are processed on a monthly cycle, with payout by the 15th of the following month.
6. Intellectual property
All annotations, labels, and derivative works produced through Cernira are assigned, on creation, to the relevant buying AI lab via Cernira’s reseller agreement. Annotators retain no IP rights over delivered work, except as required by inalienable statutory rights (moral rights under French law).
7. Account suspension
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, produce repeatedly low-quality work, or are flagged for fraud. Earned but unpaid compensation will be paid out unless tied to fraudulent activity.
8. Liability
Cernira is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for direct damages is capped at the total amount paid to or by you in the preceding 12 months.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute will be brought before the competent courts of Paris, France.
